New Feature: Instalment Payments to support community sport
GameDay is excited to announce the release of Instalment Payments – now available for all GameDay customers. This feature provides further flexibility for organisations taking online payment for membership, events, programs, courses and shop. We’re making it easier than ever for sports organisations and event organisers to offer flexible payment options to support parents, families and participants.
The instalment payment option aims to help support families with managing payment of a form order over a period of time rather than up-front payment in full.
When enabled by an organisation on a form, purchasers can choose to select the instalment payment option to spread the payment of the order over four (4) equal payments every 2 weeks. Enabling the purchaser to choose how they would like to make payment – whether full payment or by instalments – providing them with more flexibility when paying online!
When choosing to pay via instalment payments, the payment method will be stored for future instalment payments. GameDay also allows participants and admin to change the payment method should a stored payment method fail for any reason.
For shared forms from National or State level, the form owner needs to allow instalments on the original form, providing the ability for child organisations (Clubs or Associations) to enable instalment payments on their form link.
For more details on how to enable Instalment Payments for both GameDay & passport, please refer to the support documentation below:
Making Sport More Accessible: Why Instalment Payments Are a Game-Changer for Community Sport
Community sport has always been about more than just the game. It’s about belonging, connection, and giving people of all ages a chance to participate, learn, and grow. But the rising cost of living is putting real pressure on families, volunteers, and clubs alike — and it’s influencing whether people sign up, stay involved, or can afford essential gear.
That’s where instalment payments can make a powerful difference.
Offering flexible payment options across registrations, events, and club shop purchases not only eases financial stress for participants — it also unlocks growth opportunities for clubs.
Here’s how.
✅ 1. Break Down Cost Barriers for Families
Registration fees, uniforms, equipment, travel costs — it adds up. Instalment payments help families spread costs over time, making it easier to say “yes” to participating in sport.
Why it matters:
- Removes the upfront financial hurdle at the time of registration
- Helps retain players who may otherwise drop out due to rising costs
- Encourages more families to register earlier in the season
- When families can budget more effectively, more people stay in the game.
💸 2. Improve Cash Flow and Financial Confidence for Clubs
Many clubs rely on strong early-season income to pay for coaches, venue hire, umpires, equipment, and uniforms.
With instalment options, clubs gain:
- More consistent and predictable cash flow
- Reduced risk of unpaid fees or manual chasing of payments
- Higher conversion rates from “interested” to “registered”
- Flexible payments encourage registrations now, not “when I can afford it”.
🛒 3. Boost Sales in Your Club Shop forms
From uniforms and merchandise to equipment and supporter gear — instalment payments can increase average order value and shop engagement.
Clubs that offer instalment options often see:
- Increased merchandise sales
- More supporters buying items they may have otherwise skipped
- Higher uptake of “bundles” like full uniform packs or supporter kits
- Fans love to show their colours. Instalments help them do it proudly.
🎟️ 4. Support Event Participation and Fundraising
Tournaments, gala days, presentation nights, and club fundraisers often require upfront payments. Instalments open the door for more people to take part.
This helps clubs:
- Improve attendance and participation across all events
- Enable families to support their club without financial strain
- Create more inclusive experiences on and off the field
- More attendance = more engagement = stronger community.
🧩 5. Build an Inclusive, Supportive Club Culture
Affordability shouldn’t decide who gets to play sport. Offering payment flexibility sends a powerful message:
“We want everyone involved. We’ve got your back.”
Clubs that provide instalments show they understand the realities community members face — and value participation above all else.
🚀 Make Playing Sport Easier for Everyone
Instalment payments aren’t just a financial feature — they’re a participation-driving strategy.
- For families, they reduce stress.
- For clubs, they increase registrations, stability, and growth.
- For the community, they keep sport accessible and thriving.
By giving members more choice and flexibility in how they pay, clubs can ensure more players, more supporters, and more happy faces on and off the field.
